Greetings! I think it’s Friday, TGIF? and thanks to the 77 of you who have hopped aboard since my last issue when I shared the first annual report on my philosophical coaching practice.
The past few weeks have been pretty busy - I’ve got new stuff for y’all…
Talking to the Dead:
This is a post about our finicky ice maker and how I have frequent, involuntary, mental conversations with my late father.
How Homes Work - A Followup:
We moved to a larger, much older apartment at the beginning of March, just in time for the NYC lockdown. I had talked myself into this decision via an earlier, well-received post on How Homes Work.
In the followup, I share some further reflections on what makes a home serve its higher functions - identity establishment & mood regulation - well.
and last but definitely not least, I co-led a collaboration via the Yak Collective (an indie consultant community):
“The New Old Home” explores 20+ different angles on homes post-COVID.
My basic idea was that there’s something old and pre-industrial about working and producing at home. But at the same time, wfh now is much different than, like, farming.
A motley cast of contributors did a fantastic job running wild with this theme - just flip through the deck and behold: the home as a farcaster mansion, minimum viable novelty, the failure of third spaces, knowledge work apprenticeships, and much more.
Save the date: we’re holding a release event for this project Thursday June 25th at 8pm Eastern. (I’ll send registration link to this list as soon as it becomes available).
Work with me: Pandemic Specials are ending
I’ve just made another donation to the Hack Manhattan PPE drive in accordance with my pandemic offers, bringing to total to $375.
I’m going to close these pandemic specials at the end of June and figure out what ~new normal~ looks like for my services, got a fresh offer in the works too.
If you are interested in working with me beyond just reading the blog, check out the pandemic page before it disappears.
Have a good weekend and I’ll be back next week with registration info for the New Old Home event,
Pamela
