I have just one thing to share this week: my 3,000 word mini-manifesto on…
How Homes Work.
Homes have several important functions beyond the basics (space to sleep, eat, and store things).
Homes help us to establish and communicate our identity. And homes help us to regulate our emotional states.
The backstory is that we (2 adults, 3 kids, dog, cat) live in a small (~600sq ft) apartment and it’s driving me crazy!1! Allow me be the cautionary tale:
You ignore the higher functions of home at your own peril. A home that isn’t working for you is working against you.
P.S. - Sabbatical Notes
I was able to write How Homes Work because I went on “sabbatical” this week, trading places with my husband (i.e. not primary caregiver).
It was awesome. I wrote, read books, went to yoga 2x, took coffee meetings with new contacts, spoke with clients, spoke with my own philosophical counselor, ate many meals out, etc.
Have you ever “burned out” at work or at parenting? What was it like? How did you heal?
As wonderful as my sabbatical has been, I’m well aware it’s the beginning of some kind of realignment and not the end…
Happy Valentine’s Day,
Pamela
